3rd and 4th Class, March '21

Updated: Jun 16, 2023

March News

3rd & 4th Class were delighted to be back in school on March 15th. The children were glad to be able to see their friends again, getting to catch up on their news and playing outside at breaks.

They did lots of nice activities for Seachtain na Gaeilge. They learned an Irish dance and a song. They drew Leprechaun hats and made St. Patrick’s Day hanging mobiles in art. Everyone dressed up in green for our Lá Glas/Green Day.

As part of our Green Schools Flag, 3rd & 4th went litter picking around the school grounds. They made a poster with all the different types of litter that was found. They completed a waste audit, to check how much the school is recycling and the different types of waste in the school. They organised a Green Code poster competition to spread the message that we are a Green School.

We were blessed with lovely weather in March. They went on an outdoor scavenger hunt for PE and ran laps around the school every day for our Active flag.

On March 24th, we had a “Wellness Wednesday”. They made friendship bears for their buddies.

Our new chess sets arrived so it is fun to be playing it in person again. We also got a chess demo board which will be useful for learning new strategies.

We learned about the Easter Story in Religion. We made “Mad-Hatter” Easter bonnets for our school parade, had an Easter egg hunt, and of course made lots of Easter themed art. We had an egg and spoon race on the day of the holidays and everyone went home with some chocolate for Easter.
