On Monday, 18th September, fourth, fifth and sixth class had a very enjoyable visit
from local beekeeper, Brendan Murphy.
He showed us how honey is made. He brought in a lot of different equipment, including the beehives and the extractor. We learned about the different types of bees- the drone, the worker, and the queen bee. Did you know that the queen bee can lay up to 1,000 eggs a day! He gave us a sample of the honey. It tasted delicious and it was very sweet. It was an interesting afternoon and we all learned something new.
